Raising Black Swallowtail Butterflies
Clip: Season 4 Episode 5 | 1m 54s
From tiny caterpillars to full grown adults, we observe the Black Swallowtail butterfly.
Watch as black swallowtails grow from tiny caterpillars to full grown adults. Compared to other butterfly species, these little guys change in appearance as they graduate from one instar phase to the next. These butterflies are easy to raise, as their caterpillars graze on many readily available plants in the carrot family, like fennel, dill, and parsley.
