Restoration efforts are now beginning for Callaway's historic one-room schoolhouse.

Before the 20th century, one-room schoolhouses educated the majority of America's children. Now, many of these structures have fallen into disrepair and only an estimated 14 remain in Florida. Callaway's Historical Society has worked to preserve the city's schoolhouse as a museum, but damage from Hurricane Michael has made the building unsafe. Callaway is now beginning restoration efforts.
