We both inherited white and black.
Inherited something that we can't do anything about.
I've inherited a lot of the trauma from discrimination and systematic racism and all of that.
While white people inherited privilege.
And how do those two things go together?
How do we understand the trauma and the pain and the things that are holding African-American people back?
How do we understand what privilege gives us access to?
And we combine those things together, but we can only do that through conversation.
We can only do that through intentional relationship building, breaking down walls and silos and stop the resegregation.
We cannot have a generation that moves past and and dispel notions.
If we keep segregating our kids, they're only gonna learn how to be apart and won't learn how to be together.
And change this world so that when we're old enough, we can smile at it.
