Growing up in grammar school, every teacher I ever had that called my name differently.
You know, Kook, Cocke, Coke, You know, just on and on and I had three boys, and so they kind of grew up fighting their way through school, you know?
And I have had several scraps about my last name.
And the bottom line is, oh, we we tried to make lemonade out of lemons.
And and we we my sons came to me probably around 2009 and said, Dad, we'd like to be charter boat captains.
Would you help us financially, you know, get our license and all that?
And I said, no.
And I said, I want ya■ll to work, you know?
And they said, We want to fish.
And I said, Well, what you call the thing.
And I said, Big Cocke Charters.
And we laughed about it.
But I said, no.
And they said, Well, it■s gonna have a rooster.
And my dad's nickname in Tallahassee was Lucky Cocke, but he died when he was 33.
So he couldn't have been very lucky, you know.
And when we started our business, I can't tell you the year, but I know this.
It was the same years the gulf oil spill happened, so that like-to ruined us.
And so we had to switch gears and we started selling the t shirts which portray...I actually have one on here now, if you'd like to see.
Sure.
Oh, yes.
It's a Big Cocke Charter t-shirt with a logo on it, with a rooster with a fishing rod.
And and the Roosters name is Lucky, after my dad.
And so we did that for six years.
And it was it was just a rough row-to-howe.
And we just wasn't financially business people, but we sold a lot of shirts and have a had a vending trailer was about 30, 32 foot long and it was custom to have a door on the side and you raise it up and you could sell out of it and we'd pull it to mud boggin festivals and all kind of different events.
And the boys got some crazy stories to tell about that.
If it doesn't ruffle his feathers, why should it ruffle anybody else's?
