The Atlanta Botanical Garden and the Florida State Park Service are collaborating to restore the watersheds of coastal dune lakes. Funded by the Gulf Environmental Benefit Fund, the restoration is aimed at benefitting snowy plovers, shorebirds that nest on the outfalls of the lakes. But for the plovers to have healthy nesting habitat, the system needs healthy fire dependent uplands and prairies.
